About the game

Logical is a colour-matching puzzle game published around 1991, built on a deceptively simple premise: coloured balls travel along pipes into small rotating wheels, and your job is to arrange four balls of the same colour in a wheel so that it clears and lets the flow continue. The catch is that the wheels are interconnected, so feeding one often means spinning balls into a neighbour, and the puzzle becomes a juggling act of timing and routing against a steadily filling board.

It sits in the crowded early-nineties field of abstract action-puzzlers that followed Tetris into the marketplace, and while it never reached that level of fame it earned a following among fans of tricky, brain-teasing arcade puzzles. The clean, brightly coloured presentation makes the mechanics easy to read, and the difficulty ramps up quickly enough to keep the pressure on. As a compact test of spatial planning it still works, though it is very much a product of its puzzle-boom moment rather than a standout that transcends it.
