Über Dungeons of Kairn

Dungeon je tmavé místo. Kairn je název. A pokud ses v devadesátkách dostal k tomuhle titulu, věděl jsi, že tě čeká klasická grid-based průchod kobkami bez příliš mnoho okolků.

Dungeons of Kairn je starý RPG z roku 1989, kde se pohybuješ po čtvercové síti, potkáváš příšery a sbíráš věci. Nic revolucionního — první či druhá vrstva Ultima nebo Wizardry se znalostí, co bylo trendy v pozdních osmdesátkách. Vytváříš si postavu, padáš do jeskyní, mlátíš se s tvory a sbíráš artefakty. Klasika na svůj čas.

Hraní samo je nudné. Pohyby po mřížce, jednoduché menu, boj se svádí jako seznam čísel — tvoje hodnota proti jejich hodnotě. Není tu žádná dramatika, žádné překvapení. Grafika je spíš aby byla, zvuk taky. Jde o to, aby hra fungovala a lákala tě zkoušet další úrovně, ale čím déle hraje, tím víc si uvědomuješ, že to je jen výplň mezi jedním a druhým spawnpointem příšer.

V osmdesátkách a začátku devadesátek se takové věci prodávaly, protože nebyl ani manželský problém — byla tady prostě RPG, kterou sis mohl koupit. Dnes se na Dungeons of Kairn kouká spíš jako na artefakt doby. Není to špatná hra, jen zcela průměrná a bez vlastního obličeje.

Hrát si ji dnes můžeš v emulátoru nebo v prohlížeči, pokud tě zajímá, jak vypadal RPG před Baldur's Gate. Budeš zklamaný, ale aspoň si vyzkoušíš, co se považovalo za zábavu, když byl tvůj počítač pomalejší a názory na design byly jednodušší.
