Když se v devadesátkách dostala mezi ruce hra s takovým jménem, věděl jsi, že tě čeká něco ambiciózního. Chronicles of Aarbron Trilogy slibuje tři samostatné příběhy v jednom balíčku — něco, co mělo být v 90. letech zázrakem, pokud by to fungovalo.

Jde o fantasy RPG pro DOS, kde se pohybuješ po své cestě temným světem plným monster a tajemství. Každá část trilogie by měla mít svoji zápletku, své postavy a své konce. Hra se odehrává v klassickém pixelart prostředí s pohledem shora, klasika té doby, která měla fungovat na skromných konfiguracích.

Hraní je pomalé a nudné. Pohyb postav terčem cílení svléknutý na minimum, boje jsou tahové a trvají věčnost. Není v tom žádné tempo, žádná dynamika. Dialogy jsou lapidární, světbuilding se svleká na pár vět textu. To, co mělo být epickou trilogií, se cítí jako nudný kancelářský papír, kterým tě někdo mlátí do obličeje bez slitování.

Dnes je tahle hra známá spíš jako zvědavostí než jako klasika. Ambice měla, ale realizace padla. Technicky to sice funguje, ale hraní nemá duši. Není to tak špatné, aby to byla komická nostalgie — je to jen prázdné a unavující.

Pokud máš rád opravdu archaické RPG ze staršího dne a chceš vidět, jak se někdo snažil zpracovat fantasy trilogii s minimálními prostředky, můžeš si ji spustit v prohlížeči. Ale čekej na nudných dialogech a vytrvalosti, která ti nevzbudí vášeň.
