Půjdeme si na povinný program? Tohle byl asi výběr vaší babičky. At the Carnival z roku 1990 je puzzle hra z doby, kdy se na dos-boxech ještě řešily mechanické hlavolamy místo toho, aby se ti do monitoru prodíraly démony z pekla.

Jde o logickou strategii, kterou ovládáš z pohledu shora. Cílem je posunovat si na herním poli různé bloky a prvky tak, aby splnily podmínky úrovně. Zasazení je poměrně abstraktní — není tam příběh, jen čistá logika. Každá úroveň je samostatný puzzle, kde musíš přijít na správné pořadí tahů. Hra ti nedá návod, prostě ti řekne, co má být na konci, a zbytek je tvoje starost.

Hraje se jednoduchým posunem kurzoru a potvrzováním — nic extra na ovládání. To je zároveň problém. Pohyb je pomalý, menu nudné, a když si v hlavolamu neuvědomíš, co se stane, musíš začít znovu. Není tu undo, není tu hint. Chyba a restart. Pro některé je to přesně to, co chtějí; pro ostatní je to zdržování. Grafika je čistě utilistní — bloky, políčka, několik barev. Neokouzluje.

Takovéto hry měly v devadesátkách svůj smysl — byly to jedny z mála věcí, co měl pc na fyzické logické myšlení. Dnes si je zahraje snad jen někdo, kdo se chce vrátit do doby, kdy puzzle hra nemusela mít příběh ani atmosféru, jen správný algoritmus.

Pokud se chceš podívat, jak vypadala strategie a logika v nejčistší formě bez větší grafické slávy, zkus si ji. V prohlížeči přes DOSBox zvládneš pár úrovní bez stresu. Ale nečekej zázrak — je to spíš deník z počítačové prehistorie, než zábava na dnešní dobu.
