Aces of the Pacific

Aces of the Pacific, released by Dynamix in 1992 under the Sierra banner, is a landmark World War II flight simulator set in the Pacific theater. It let players climb into the cockpits of iconic aircraft on both sides, the American Wildcat, Hellcat and Corsair, the Japanese Zero and others, and fight through the campaigns of the Pacific war, from Pearl Harbor onward. Its career mode, in which you flew a pilot through historically grounded missions across the span of the conflict, was a major draw.

Dynamix built a reputation for combining serious flight modeling with strong presentation and a real sense of place, and Aces of the Pacific is one of the high points of that run alongside Red Baron. The dogfights felt weighty, the aircraft handled distinctly, and the historical framing gave the campaign genuine stakes. It remains a respected entry in the early-90s golden age of PC flight sims, and enthusiasts of the era still hold it in high regard for its blend of authenticity and playability.
