About Ski Jump International 2

Ski Jump International 2 is a side-view DOS simulation of ski jumping, a discipline that is practically a national sport in Finland. You ride down the in-run, time your take-off, balance the flight position in mid-air and try to land a clean telemark; points are awarded for distance and style, and tournaments take you across a whole roster of hills. The period blurb modestly bills it as “the most realistic ski jumping simulator in the world”.

The author is Finnish programmer Ville Könönen, who started the series in 1994 with the humble Lartzan Skijump; this second instalment, subtitled “The New Generation”, added fifteen new hills among other refinements. The series went on to a cult third part and ranks among the best-known products of the Finnish freeware scene of the 1990s. You can take a jump right in your browser on OldGame.cz.
