About the game

Bruce Lee, developed by Datasoft and first released in 1984, is one of the defining action-platformers of the 8-bit era, and it made its way to DOS PCs alongside its home-computer versions. Deceptively simple in appearance, it fused platforming, exploration and hand-to-hand combat into a tight package that hooked a generation. You guide Bruce through a series of interconnected chambers, collecting lanterns to unlock progress toward a confrontation with a wizard.

What gave the game its lasting charm was the pair of relentless enemies dogging your every move: the hulking Green Yamo and a small, nimble stick-wielding Ninja who harried you across every screen. Dispatching them with kicks and punches while navigating spikes, electrified obstacles and moving platforms created a rhythm that was both frantic and strategic. It also featured a co-op mode where a second player could take control of Yamo, an unusual and playful twist. Compact, colourful and endlessly replayable, Bruce Lee holds up remarkably well as a piece of elegant early game design, and it remains a beloved touchstone for retro enthusiasts.
