About Virtua Potti

Virtua Potti simulates the Potti 5 fruit machine of Finland's Raha-automaattiyhdistys (RAY, part of Veikkaus since 2017), the state-sanctioned operator whose machines stood in shops, kiosks and bars across the country, with the proceeds going to health and welfare work. The Potti family, which let you bet several paylines at once, had been a fixture there since the 1980s.

The 1996 program offers nothing beyond a careful imitation of those reels, buttons and payout tables. The FILE_ID.DIZ in virpotti.zip simply calls it a "potti5-simulaattori" and asks for at least a 386, VGA and a mouse.

It is a purely domestic piece of DOS software that barely travelled outside Finland; Mikrobitti covered it in issue 12/1996, page 98. On OldGame.cz it runs right in your browser.
