About Tom Clown

Tom Clown is a circus-themed platformer for the Mega Drive. You guide a clown across platforms and dodge the hazards on the way. It is a small game, the whole ROM only 512 kB, which matches the cheap cartridges it was made for.

It came from Gamtec, a Taiwanese producer of unlicensed Mega Drive cartridges. What sets it apart from most of that catalogue is that its lead character is original rather than lifted from a Japanese hit. In a corner of the industry where graphics and sound were routinely copied wholesale, that alone is worth noting.
