Bilbo is a Swedish text adventure for DOS written by Nils Eng and played entirely in Swedish. It borrows from Tolkien but goes its own way: here it is not Frodo but Bilbo who carries the Ring to Mount Doom. You move through described locations, gather items and work through the obstacles of the journey by typing commands.

After criticism that the game strayed from the books, the author changed the names and reissued it as Härskarringen. Bilbo is therefore the original shape of the same work.

It is a characteristic piece of the Swedish amateur scene: a game in the author's own language, distributed outside commercial channels and barely recorded in foreign databases. A Swedish keyboard layout makes typing easier. It runs right in your browser here on OldGame.cz.
