About Ninja Bear

Ninja Bear is the debut game of Portuguese programmer Tiago Sousa, a small amateur production released in 1998 on a cover disk of the Portuguese magazine Mega Score. Little detailed period description of it has survived; it is a typical product of the domestic scene of the time, written by one person in his spare hours.

What makes it notable is who made it. Sousa later became rendering lead on Crysis at Crytek and then moved to id Software, so Ninja Bear is literally the first step of a career that went on to shape one of the best-known graphics engines of its era.

For the history of Portuguese amateur games it is a cornerstone item. On OldGame.cz it runs straight in your browser.
