As Aventuras da TV Colosso

As Aventuras da TV Colosso is one of the strangest exclusives in Master System history — a game released only in Brazil. In 1996, Sega's local distributor Tec Toy took the European platformer Astérix and the Secret Mission (1993), redrew the sprites and recast the Gauls as the dog puppets from TV Colosso, Globo's hit children's show: little Gilmar stepped into Asterix's role, while the big shaggy diva Priscila replaced Obelix.

The plot faithfully follows the original — six rare herbs must be gathered for a miracle cure, sending the canine duo across colourful levels full of jumping, punch-ups and hidden passages, with each character handling slightly differently.

TV Colosso launched on Globo in 1993 and by the mid-nineties practically every Brazilian child was watching it, so Tec Toy's timing was perfect. The release date itself is telling: by 1996 the Master System was long dead in the rest of the Western world, yet in Brazil, thanks to Tec Toy, it was still going strong.
