Saints is one of the least documented titles of the Finnish home-computer scene of the 1990s. Not even its original BBS blurb has survived, so nothing certain can be said about its genre, authors or year of release — all we know is that it circulated among Finnish DOS users alongside thousands of similar small freeware and shareware programs.

Games like this are the easiest to lose: the big international retro archives barely cover the Finnish BBS scene, and without a period description even the basic context disappears. We include it in the catalogue all the same — not least because the best way to find out what Saints actually is, is simply to start it up. The game runs directly in your browser on OldGame.cz, so the expedition costs you nothing.

For two decades MS-DOS was the main gaming platform on PCs. Games launched from the command line and used sound cards like Sound Blaster or AdLib. DOS is the home of legends such as Doom, Prince of Persia and Commander Keen.
