Woody Woodpecker cartoons have looped on Brazilian television for decades, making the bird — known locally as Pica-Pau — far bigger there than in his American homeland. Tec Toy, Sega's official Brazilian partner, turned that popularity into Férias Frustradas do Pica-Pau (roughly "Woody's Ruined Vacation"), released in October 1996 for the Master System and Mega Drive and sold only in Brazil. It also stands out as one of the very few games Tec Toy developed entirely in-house rather than adapting from an existing title.

The setup is pure Saturday-morning cartoon: Woody's road-trip holiday collapses when a camera flash makes his friends vanish, kidnapped by the vulture Zeca Urubu. What follows is a straightforward mid-nineties side-scroller — Woody collects money bags, double-taps to run, skis down slopes and dispatches enemies by pecking in four directions, with the occasional rocket pack to help him along.

The game is rough around the edges and often unfairly hard, yet Brazilian players remember it warmly as the one time their afternoon TV hero got a cartridge of his own.
