A tiny joke program from the Finnish home-computer scene, announced in its period blurb with the words "TaneSoft esittää" — "TaneSoft presents". The main attraction is HIPPIMITTARI, the "hippie meter": a program that claims to measure how much of a hippie you are, and to reveal a few "other truths" about you along the way.

It is not really a game but a classic gag utility of the kind that circulated on Finnish BBS boards in the 1990s — small programs written to amuse friends and bulletin-board visitors. The requirements were suitably modest: an 8088 with a VGA card was enough, and a 386 was recommended.

The Finnish BBS and homebrew scene of the nineties is almost invisible on international retro sites, and small curiosities like this capture its spirit well. You can run the hippie meter right in your browser here on OldGame.cz.
