Miniwar is a small DOS action game by Finnish programmer Jussi Aittoniemi. The period description calls it a side-viewed fighting game for two to four players, with miniature graphics and plenty of ammunition — exactly the kind of title made for a few friends crowded around one keyboard.

According to the FILE_ID.DIZ of the surviving version 1.20, it needed a 386 with a math coprocessor and about 460 KB of conventional memory, while the author "strongly recommended" a Pentium — an unusually bold requirement for such a tiny game.

Miniwar comes from the Finnish home-computer and BBS scene of the 1990s, a corner of gaming history that international retro sites mostly overlook. You can play it right in your browser on OldGame.cz.
