Syndicate is Bullfrog's cyberpunk masterpiece, and this Plus edition bundles the original 1993 game with its American Revolt expansion into one package. You command a nameless corporate syndicate in a grim, neon-soaked future, dispatching a squad of four cybernetically enhanced agents across an isometric world to assassinate rivals, seize territory and persuade the populace through a mix of bribery, brainwashing and overwhelming firepower. The signature touch is the Persuadertron, letting you convert civilians and enemies into a shuffling entourage that follows your agents through the streets.

What set it apart was its cold, amoral tone: there are no heroes here, only market share, and you fund your global takeover by literally taxing conquered regions to buy heavier weapons and better cybernetic upgrades. The blend of real-time tactical control, atmospheric mission design and that oppressive dystopian mood made it a standout of the early nineties. The American Revolt add-on cranks up the difficulty considerably for veterans. It holds up remarkably well today thanks to its distinctive aesthetic and the sheer satisfaction of coordinating a squad through a hail of gunfire and Molotov-lit chaos.
