Road Runner brings the classic Warner Bros. cartoon chase to the computer, casting you as the perpetually fleeing bird while Wile E. Coyote scrambles after you with his usual mix of desperation and Acme-fueled scheming. The action scrolls relentlessly forward, tasking you with gobbling up piles of birdseed scattered along the road while dodging the Coyote, passing trucks, falling rocks and the occasional cliff edge. It captures the frantic, one-note comedy of the source material surprisingly well: you are never really fighting back, only running, and the tension comes from balancing greed for seed against the need to keep moving.

Originally an Atari arcade title from the mid-1980s, this later home-computer version arrived on MS-DOS through Mindscape at the end of the decade. Like many licensed conversions of the era, how much you enjoy it depends heavily on your affection for the cartoon and your tolerance for repetitive, memorization-heavy stages. The presentation leans hard on recognizable characters and slapstick gags, which was a big selling point at the time. Today it plays as a curio, a reminder of how eagerly studios chased cartoon licenses, though the pure running-and-collecting loop still has a certain hypnotic pull if you give it a few runs.
