Six-Pac 3D

Six-Pac 3D takes the classic Pac-Man layout into three dimensions: instead of a top-down view you move through the maze in 3D, gobbling dots and dodging ghosts. For a tiny freeware production of its day it is a technically ambitious piece, requiring at least a 386 with VGA and supporting both Gravis UltraSound and Sound Blaster cards for audio.

The game was written by a group signing itself Firgin in 1996–1997. Version 0.42 was released as a “party version” for Assembly '97, the legendary Finnish demoparty, which places the game firmly within the local demoscene and BBS culture; a version 0.60 followed later. It was exactly this undergrowth of small experiments that the later Finnish games industry grew out of. You can play Six-Pac 3D right in your browser on OldGame.cz.
