Reiska vs Repa

Reiska vs Repa is a Finnish worm game (matopeli) from 1995, made by a group calling itself NobleSoft. As the title suggests, it pits two rivals against each other — Reiska and Repa, both stock Finnish nicknames, roughly the local equivalent of Joe and Bob. It is a take on the classic snake formula, evidently framed as a duel between two worms.

The game spread as freeware through Finnish BBSes; the surviving FILE_ID.DIZ file, complete with a lovingly drawn ASCII logo, proudly announces this as "the Final version". Small releases like this formed the backbone of Finland's 1990s home-computer scene, a corner of gaming history the big international retro sites have never mapped.
