It's a side-scrolling runner where you control this green dog himself. The goal is simple: collect stuff, stay alive, and make it to the end of the level. In each of five worlds, different traps await — from falling objects to hostile creatures to surprises you just can't figure out why they're even there. Green Dog isn't a game that lets you relax. It's chaotic and often surreal in a way that probably even the creators didn't fully wrap their heads around.

Controls are straightforward — you jump, collect, dodge. The problem is, the game often isn't fair. Enemies pop up without warning, levels are sometimes overcrowded. This isn't about precision fun, but more about trying to survive the chaos. When you're doing well, you feel like a genius. When you die for the third time in the same spot, you realize it's more luck than skill. The graphics are colorful and detailed for Mega Drive, the sounds are punchy — the music burrows into your brain, sometimes uncomfortably so.

Green Dog is interesting today precisely because it does things so specifically weird. It's not a game kids would have loved — it's a game that kids with unusual taste loved. These days you fire it up in an emulator and you're surprised how good the graphics feel here and how much that sound design grabs you.
