Sometime in the nineties, I was watching someone's screen as they wandered through a jungle collecting things. I didn't know what was happening, but there was something to it. Wild Life is that kind of quiet adventure — not a game that screams in your ear, but something that pulls you out of the room if you want to know what comes next.

You play some traveler moving through the world, meeting people, collecting items, and solving problems. It's a mix of adventure and RPG without grand ambitions — more text dialogues and logic puzzles than bombastic storytelling. The game puts you in situations where you have to think about what you're taking with you and the order in which you do things. It's not about rushing at dragons; it's about realizing that something you see in the third room, you'll need in the fifth.

The controls are simple — move around the world, pick things up, use items from your inventory. The graphics are what you'd expect from a computer in 1990: a few colors, clear shapes, nothing dazzling. But that's not a drawback. That modesty gives you room for imagination. The game doesn't rush, doesn't bother you with loud music or sound effects that would distract you. Wild Life isn't a game that changed the industry. Nobody remembers it like Ultima or King's Quest. But that's exactly its charm — it's an honest, quiet adventure from a maker who tried harder than they pretended. These games are interesting in hindsight, when you realize what was being made back then without fanfare and without the computers we have at home today.

I'd play it again mainly to remind myself how this thing was done in times when choices were limited and creativity came first. It's not a blockbuster, but it's worth finding in an archive of old games and giving it a shot. Maybe you'll feel it the way I do — as something that wants to listen to you more than direct you.
