Sauna Worm is a Finnish freeware take on the classic snake game the whole world knew from Nokia phones — the period blurb itself points to the worm of the Nokia 8810. It was made by a group fittingly signed Sauna, so even the title is a small joke: a worm straight from the sauna. The principle stays honestly simple — the worm grows with every bite and must not crash into anything, or the round is over.

The requirements match the genre: a humble 286 with DOS or Windows was enough, and the game was distributed as freeware. It is a nice example of how the Finnish home scene of the late 1990s carried a mobile-phone phenomenon back to the PC — Nokia was, after all, the national pride.
