Tauno is a humorous Finnish adventure game which its period BBS blurb, at version 1.16, advertised as "a fun adventure seasoned with great graphics and a plot". The task is simple: jump into Tauno's trousers — not literally, the author hastens to add — and sort out the mess the hero has got himself into.

The game ranks among the better adventures the Finnish home-computer scene of the 1990s produced; the later fan-made sequel Tauno 3 even calls the series the cream of domestic text adventures. The blurb also promised an official Tauno 2, "literally better". Hardware demands were modest for the time: a 286 PC, 2 MB of RAM and a VGA card.

Finnish BBS games remain nearly invisible on international retro sites, which makes Tauno a pleasant discovery. You can try it right in your browser on OldGame.cz.
