The Magic School Bus: Space Exploration Game is an educational Mega Drive title based on the Scholastic books and the cartoon. You take Ms. Frizzle's bus around the solar system, land on the planets and work through short stages, collecting items while the game feeds you facts about wherever you have stopped. The pacing and difficulty are aimed squarely at children — it is a guided tour rather than a challenge.

The more interesting part is who built it. Development was handled by Novotrade of Budapest, a studio that worked for Sega for years and is best known for Ecco the Dolphin, while Scholastic and Sega handled the publishing side. The Novotrade credit comes from the archive.org record. The game is rarely emulated and never made it onto any of the later Sega compilations.

The Sega Mega Drive (Genesis in the US) was the first widely successful 16-bit console. A direct rival of the SNES and successor to the Master System, it sold around 30 million units and was made famous by Sonic the Hedgehog.
