Plundrarna

Plundrarna — roughly "The Plunderers" — is a Swedish text adventure from 1996 by Christian Appelgren. It was written in QBasic, the language shipped with MS-DOS itself, which for a whole generation was the first chance to try writing a game at all. There is no graphics layer: you read descriptions and type commands.

Titles like this were the undergrowth of the Swedish domestic scene in the 1990s — one author, one floppy, passed around on BBSes and between friends, with no publisher involved. Because the game is entirely in Swedish, international retro sites pass it by; it survives mainly thanks to enthusiasts who later uploaded it to the archives.
