Mario Teaches Typing is exactly what its name promises: an educational typing tutor from 1992 that dressed up keyboard drills in Nintendo's most famous mascot. Produced under license, it put Mario, Luigi and the familiar Mushroom Kingdom cast into a series of lessons where hitting the right keys made Mario run, jump on blocks and stomp through side-scrolling stages. This EGA-and-PC-speaker DOS version is the plainer of the game's incarnations, but it captures the core idea of turning typing practice into a light platforming reward loop.

As learning software it was reasonably effective for kids, gradually building from home-row exercises to full words and sentences while offering words-per-minute feedback. It is not a real Mario game and never pretended to be one, yet the novelty of seeing an official Mario license attached to a typing course made it a memorable fixture of many 1990s family PCs. Revisited now, it is more of an educational curiosity than entertainment, but a charming example of how mascots were used to make schoolwork feel like play.
