Tungkol sa laro

Hindi pa naisasalin ang review na ito — ipinapakita ang orihinal (English).

When you take a piece of paper and a pencil to come up with a word for someone to guess in five attempts, you don't realize you're actually playing one of the oldest logic games ever. Wordle for MS-DOS from the nineties is exactly that — a five-round duel between player and computer, where clever strategy beats luck.

The game is simple genius. The computer thinks of a word, you get five guesses. After each attempt, you see which letters are in the right place (green), which are in the word but wrong spot (yellow), and which aren't there at all (gray). Then you switch — you think of a word and the computer guesses. Nothing more, nothing less. No fancy graphics to stare at, no beeps. Just you and logic.

What plays brilliantly is that thinking process itself. You learn to guess smartly — no time for weird words, you have to think like the computer. Which words are most common? Which letters don't repeat? Your second guess isn't random, it's a counterattack. The computer in those nineties was obviously dumber than today's, but that's exactly what made it fun — it'd come at you with something unexpected and you'd wonder if it's a bug or if you're just bad.

Today, when Wordle exists as a cultural phenomenon and everyone plays it on their phone, this version is more than just a historical curiosity. It's not about whether it's better or worse — it's that you take a text DOS interface and suddenly see how simple and perfect the concept is. No notifications, no daily limits, no social pressure. Just a game.

Play it if you love minimalism and want to feel how a logic game was played by a generation that didn't have time for nonsense. It runs instantly in a browser emulator and will surprise you how addictive this blank screen is.
