Tungkol sa Army

Hindi pa naisasalin ang review na ito — ipinapakita ang orihinal (English).

I wonder if this is even a game, or just a digital remnant. Army from 1989 is an unclear piece of code for DOS that either nobody properly documented, or that fell apart into individual fragments in the archives. Only someone who had it on a diskette and remembers what it actually did would know more about it.

Army – screenshot 1

Without clear documentation, all that's left is to guess from the name itself and the era of creation — it was probably some kind of military strategy or action game that didn't look modern even for its time. The DOS era favored experimentation, but Army remained forgotten precisely because nobody remembered any details about it.

The game today is remembered primarily by its absence. Without screenshots, without content, without testimony from anyone who would spend more than six minutes on it, it's impossible to judge what happened on screen, what keys were pressed, and whether it was even entertainment or just an exercise in patience. That's the fate of many DOS titles — they were there, played, and then simply vanished.

Back then there were plenty of similar games that wanted to be military or strategic but often hit their limits — slow graphics, unbearable controls, repetitive mechanics. Army doesn't even deserve criticism, because practically no trace of it remains in gaming culture's memory.

Army – screenshot 2

If anyone is tempted by the dark past of faceless computer soldiers, there's mainly nostalgia and maybe some image of a diskette in the archives. That doesn't mean you should play it. It means it existed and now it's gone.
