Romantic Encounters at the Dome

Romantic Encounters at the Dome is a 1988 release from MicroIllusions, notable as one of the earlier attempts to build an adult-oriented adventure for home computers. Set around a singles nightspot, it cast the player into a social simulation of meeting and interacting with other characters, wrapped in the mature themes its title advertises. It was an unusual and somewhat notorious entry in a market that was still cautiously testing how far grown-up content could go on the PC.

As a historical curio it is more interesting for what it attempted than for how well it played, an experiment from a period when developers were probing every possible genre niche. I do not want to overstate specifics of its mechanics beyond that framing, but it stands as an early, boundary-pushing example of the adult adventure that occasionally surfaced in the late 1980s.
