MBnet Simulaattori is the kind of curiosity that could only have come out of Finland: a program by Samuli Kajantola that, according to its period description, "authentically simulates MBnet" — the legendary bulletin board of the computer magazine MikroBitti, the largest BBS in the country in the 1990s. It offers multinode chat, sheriff commands and virtual users driven by a simple hotkey AI.

Version 0.80 reportedly also handled telnet, modem and door-game support plus info boards for the individual discussion areas, all on a humble 386DX. For today's player it is less a game than an interactive monument to the dial-up era and to a BBS culture that international retro sites barely register.
