Yes. Both playing and downloading are free. For titles that are still sold we only offer a demo or a link to an official store (GOG, Steam).

On playable games, click the “▶ Play” button. The game loads in an emulator (DOSBox / EmulatorJS) right on the page — no install or download needed.

No. A modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) is enough. The whole emulator runs inside it.

In-browser play works on mobile too, but old games were made for a keyboard and mouse — the best experience is on a computer.

In three ways: (1) inside the game — F2/F3 or the menu under Esc; (2) on console and arcade games the emulator has a “save state” in its menu — save and load ANYTIME, even mid-way through a hard part; (3) your progress is also kept automatically in your browser, so you can close the window and continue next time. When you log in it’s stored in the cloud and you can reach it on another device too.

Local progress is stored in your browser, so clearing browser data can erase it. Want your saves safe (and openable on another computer or phone)? Log in — they’re stored in the cloud.

Click inside the game window so it captures the keyboard. If it asks for a sound card, usually pick “1” / SoundBlaster. Reloading the page often helps too. If you use an aggressive ad or script blocker, try turning it off on oldgame.cz — it occasionally blocks the emulator itself.

Most titles are so-called abandonware — old games that haven't been sold for years. If a game is still on sale we don't host it ourselves and link to a legal purchase. We remove content at the rights holder's request.

For many games, yes — you'll find a download link on the game page. DOSBox is handy for running a downloaded DOS game.

No. Both playing and saving progress work without an account — your progress is kept right in your browser. An account is optional: it only adds XP, leaderboards and syncing progress across devices.

You play with the game's original keys (DOS keyboard and mouse). For console games you can plug in a gamepad — the emulator detects it. On mobile, touch controls appear.

DOS and retro-console games run online. Later Windows games (like Diablo, Fallout or GTA) are beyond the emulator — those are download-only or just a profile. For unplayable ones we suggest similar titles you can start right away.

Many games have a Cheats section right on the game page. We're gradually adding walkthroughs to the magazine.

No. Each version is a separate entry here with its own saved data, so progress doesn't overwrite between versions.

Usually a few seconds. The first time takes a little longer because the emulator downloads — after that it starts right away. No minute-long waits.

Yes. Emulating old games is light — it runs on a weaker PC and on mobile too. A current browser is all you need; no powerful hardware required.

For selected games (Doom, Liero and others) you play with a friend over the internet: create a room and send them the link. Some games also have local two-player on a single keyboard.

Yes — Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari, on desktop and mobile. The emulator (js-dos and EmulatorJS) is actively developed and regularly updated; you don't need any plugins or extensions.

Yes — every game has a live chat (“Live chat”) right on its page where you can ask other players. There’s a guestbook too.

Yes. The emulator has Mute and a volume control in its menu, so you can play with no sound at all.

Local progress stays in your browser until you clear browser data — easily weeks. When you log in it’s stored in the cloud permanently and reachable from any device.
