7 Days a Skeptic

7 Days a Skeptic is the 2004 sequel to 5 Days a Stranger and the second chapter of Ben 'Yahtzee' Croshaw's Chzo Mythos, once again built in Adventure Game Studio and released as freeware. Where the first game was a haunted-house tale, this one relocates the horror to deep space aboard a research vessel, showing Croshaw stretching his mythos across a very different setting while keeping the same claustrophobic, someone-is-picking-us-off structure.

The crew of the ship recover a mysterious object, and before long the isolation of space becomes a trap as paranoia and violence take hold among the small cast. Played out over seven days, it keeps the point-and-click puzzle framework of its predecessor but leans harder into psychological tension and a sci-fi atmosphere. Fans generally regard it as a worthy continuation that deepens the overarching story, and like the rest of the series it remains a well-crafted, genuinely creepy example of what a talented solo creator could achieve with free tools.
